John Peel's Record Box is a documentary film made by Elaine Shepherd, released on 14 November 2005 on Channel 4. It was nominated for Primetime Emmy Award. It is about a small private collection of the British radio DJ John Peel who died in 2004 at the age of 65. Peel's main archive contained more than 100,000 vinyl records and CDs. This smaller private collection, however, contains 143 singles - some of them doublettes - stored in a private wooden box representing some of his personal favourites. According to the documentary, there are no singles by Peel's favorite group, The Fall, because he kept them in a separate box. The film features interviews with John's wife Sheila Ravenscroft, radio DJs and artists like Mary Anne Hobbs, Sir Elton John, Ronnie Wood, Roger Daltrey, Fergal Sharkey, Jack White, Michael Palin and Miki Berenyi.

After his father takes his two brothers and high tails it, Peel is forced to grow up in a state of arrested development. Once his mother dies, he must forge his own path and attempts to find his lost brethren.

Its a story of funny misunderstandings that creates troubles for five individuals who are trying to achieve their life goals.

Little prepared Terje Braaten for this. It is unusual to receive something in the mail against their will - especially when you've never talked to the person who impose things on you. A film about the typical human skepticism about changes in your life - even the positive.

In the nature reserve De Peel, a lone woman pictures a forest ablaze, while in reality, she's watching the sunset. Lit only by sunlight and fire, she performs a ritual act. In the fire-scarred landscape of the Limburg Peel, a woman appears like a shadow between sun and ash. In her mind's eye, a forest burns. Branches turn black, the air turns to smoke, the earth breathes heat. But what she's actually looking at is the sunset: a sky that slowly ignites, taking on the appearance of fire. The film moves like a dream through a terrain of peat, light and afterburn. A mystical meditation on inner emptiness, ecological threat and the fragile line between seeing, remembering and hallucinating.
